National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame partners with Stonestreet Farm for commemorative Rachel Alexandra merchandise

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — In recognition of the 10-year anniversary of Rachel Alexandra’s induction into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, the Museum has partnered with Stonestreet Farm for a limited-edition run of merchandise celebrating the 2009 Horse of the Year and fan favorite.

Available for purchase through the Museum gift shop and online at www.stonestreetmerch.com beginning on Aug. 8, the new line of products includes hats, sweatshirts, and T-shirts honoring the remarkable career and legacy of Rachel Alexandra, one of the most accomplished and popular racehorses of the 21st century. A special pop-up display of the apparel will debut during the Museum’s Saturday Morning Social on Aug. 8. Admission to the Museum is free from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each Saturday through Sept. 5.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016, Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d’Oro—Lotta Kim, by Roar) was bred in Kentucky by Dolphus Morrison and originally trained by Hal Wiggins before being purchased by Stonestreet’s Jess Jackson in partnership with Harold McCormick after she won the 2009 Kentucky Oaks by 20¼ lengths. She was then transferred to Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen and competed an historic undefeated campaign that included Grade 1 wins in the Preakness Stakes, Mother Goose, Haskell, and Woodward to be voted the Eclipse Awards for Horse of the Year and Champion 3-Year-Old Filly. Rachel Alexandra was retired after her 4-year-old season with a career record of 13-5-0 from 19 starts and earnings of $3,506,730. She was elected to the Hall of Fame in her first year of eligibility.

“The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is thrilled to partner with our friends at Stonestreet to continue recognizing and showcasing the legacy of Rachel Alexandra,” said Cate Masterson, the Museum’s director. “Rachel Alexandra thrilled millions of racing fans during her career on the track and her popularity has proven timeless. This merchandise collection is perfect for any racing fan. We’re proud to honor all she has meant to the sport.”

“This collection was created to celebrate one of racing’s most beloved champions and share her legacy in a new way,” Stonestreet Farm said in a statement. “Whether you remember Rachel Alexandra’s unforgettable 2009 campaign or are discovering her story for the first time, this collection honors a mare who captivated the sport.”
