Countdown to the Travers Stakes program Aug. 27

Renowned handicappers and racing analysts Tom Amello and Michael “The Wizard” Kipness will participate as panelists for the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s Countdown to the Travers Stakes seminar Thursday, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. The event is free and open to the public.

Amello and Kipness will analyze the upcoming Travers Stakes field, answer audience questions about the race and general questions about the sport and handicapping in the 90-minute seminar.

Amello has produced the popular “Trackfacts” selection sheet at Saratoga Race Course since 1989. He also served as an on-air host at Capital OTB-TV for more than 20 years. Amello developed a TV version of “Trackfacts” for Capital OTB-TV and also co-hosted a second program for the network, “Trackfacts Live,” that was an audience-driven program.

Kipness has been involved racing for more than 40 years. In 1987, The Wizard Selection Sheet debuted, covering racing in New York throughout the year. He later expanded to coverage of Santa Anita, Gulfstream Park, Churchill Downs, Oaklawn Park, Fair Grounds and Monmouth Park. His Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup reports are widely valued for the depth and breadth of information and analysis that is the hallmark of Wizard handicapping products. Kipness has been a frequent guest on Capital OTB-TV and his selections are available every day at Saratoga Race Course and online at
