Hall of Fame
Now open! Experience our new Hall of Fame and signature film, "What It Takes: Journey to the Hall of Fame"
Renovated in 2020, our new Hall of Fame features an immersive theatrical presentation and nine new interactive stations that contain the digital plaques for our 459 Hall of Fame members. As of August 2020, there are 215 horses, 108 jockeys, 98 trainers, and 38 Pillars of the Turf in the Official National Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame.
What It Takes: Journey to the Hall of Fame is a 16-minute film that brings visitors on an amazing journey through the various aspects of thoroughbred racing and examines the rare honor — given to less than one percent of the sport's participants — of reaching the game's pinnacle and earning a coveted spot in the Hall of Fame. Filmed and produced by Donna Lawrence Productions of Louisville, Ky., and narrated by famed broadcaster Bob Costas, this new presentation features original footage shot in 8K resolution from various racetracks and thoroughbred farms throughout the country and interviews from Hall of Famers about their own experiences in the sport.
The film is shown eight times daily (at half past each hour, starting at 9:30 a.m., with the last show at 4:30 p.m.). Following the film, visitors are invited to learn about the careers of the Hall of Fame inductees on the gallery's nine interactive stations which feature a digital plaque, media gallery, and achievements page. Each visitor will be provided a stylus with their Museum admission to use on all touchscreen interactives throughout the Museum.
