C. V. Whitney Courtyard

At the center of the Museum resides the Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Courtyard, underwritten by Mrs. Marylou Whitney and Mr. John Hendrickson, in honor of Mrs. Whitney's late husband, a Pillar of the Turf and one of the Museum’s founders. The focal point here is John Skeaping's statue of the great Secretariat. The paddock at Belmont Park has an identical copy of this statue. As you explore this charming courtyard, look down to see the many engraved bricks dedicated here by our passionate donors and fans. These bricks are part of our Create a Legacy program, and each one bears a unique message, installed in this courtyard forever. To participate in the Create a Legacy program, click here.
