Join us as artist Greg Montgomery unveils his 2018 Travers Stakes poster and discusses the story behind this year's edition. Montgomery has been producing artwork for the iconic Travers Stakes since 1986. TIme: 7 p.m. Cost: Free to attend, posters available for purchase and will be signed by the artist.

Recommended for ages 3-6, “Horse Explorers” is a hands-on series intended to creatively educate children about horses by developing age-appropriate skills in disciplines including art, literacy, science and math. The program will be staffed by the Museum’s professional educators.

 

“Horse Explorers” will take place Thursday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Museum’s Horseplay Gallery. Children are free to attend with a paid accompanying adult.

Saturday, June 9 — 150th Running of the Belmont Stakes and Test of Champion Exhibit Opening: Join us for the third leg of the Triple Crown, as the Belmont celebrates its 150th running and the Museum unveils its exhibit honoring the Belmont’s history. There will be food and drink and a live viewing of the Belmont. Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost: *Special Triple Crown Ticket: $100: save $15 on at-the-door prices for each Triple Crown showing at the Museum! $30 non-member, $25 Museum members. Legendary thoroughbred racing personality Tom Durkin, who called 25 editions of the Belmont Stakes from 1990 through 2014 for the New York Racing Association, will discuss several of his favorite calls of the iconic race during a special program at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Thursday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The program is open to the public and free to attend. Retired jockey and Capital OTB racing analyst Jeff Carle will serve as the program moderator.
