National Museum of Racing announces #GivingTuesday initiative

The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, in conjunction with the #GivingTuesday fundraising initiative for non-profit organizations, has set a goal of selling 100 commemorative bricks to support the Museum for the Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Courtyard on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

 

Bricks are available in two sizes: a 4” x 8” red brick is $100 and an 8” x 8” grey brick is $250. They can be purchased online at www.racingmuseum.org or by calling (518) 584-0400 ext. 109. The red bricks feature three lines of custom text with 12 characters per line (including spaces and punctuation) and the grey bricks feature six lines of text with 12 characters per line (including spaces and punctuation). Bricks are on sale through Dec. 31 and will be unveiled at a special dedication ceremony in the spring of 2018.

 

“The Museum is looking forward to debuting the new Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Courtyard in the spring of 2018 and we believe these commemorative bricks are a terrific way to honor a loved one or your favorite horse, jockey, trainer or racetrack with a special message,” said Cathy Marino, the Museum’s director. “We think the #GivingTuesday initiative is the perfect time to purchase these bricks and become part of the legacy at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. It’s a great way for people to show their support for thoroughbred racing and the Museum.”

 

Started in 2012, #GivingTuesday is designated as an international day of giving to support non-profit organizations. In 2015, $177 million was raised on #GivingTuesday through online donations.
