“Get Ready for the Track!” Family Fun Day at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 7

The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will present a special program geared toward families and children called “Get Ready for the Track!” on Saturday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a variety of racing-related educational activities for young visitors. The event is free to attend.

 

“Get Ready for the Track!” will celebrate the upcoming Saratoga Race Course meeting and Foal Patrol, the Museum’s interactive website that provides fans unprecedented access to the daily lives of several thoroughbred mares and their foals via web cameras.

 

The day’s activities include:

 

* Meet Vicki Dodd, author of “A Moose in My Stable” coloring book and “A Moose in The Starting Gate” and Longshot, the Moose mascot!

* Coloring sheets and coloring station

* Make your own Noodle Horse

* Try on real jockey silks

* Go on a Museum-wide Scavenger hunt with the opportunity to explore the Museum galleries to find special objects to receive a souvenir sticker 

* HorsePlay! Gallery: Ride an equipony, a mechanical horse that imitates riding, groom a life-sized stuffed horse, explore the many different shoes a thoroughbred may wear and investigate objects related to the many careers associated with horse racing

* Guided exploration of the Foal Patrol website, the Museum’s interactive project featuring a collection of live cameras following mares and their newborn foals. View the website with iPads on our large-screen TVs and learn all about the fun and educational aspects of Foal Patrol and our partner, Godolphin Kids.
