John Morrissey Trifecta Tour scheduled for May 23

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is partnering with the Adelphi Hotel and the Saratoga Springs History Museum to present the John Morrissey Trifecta Tour on Thursday, May 23. Focusing on Morrissey’s connections to three iconic Saratoga Springs institutions, the tour will celebrate the remarkable legacy of the fierce individual who established organized thoroughbred racing in the village during the summer of 1863. The tour includes transportation by trolleys and will depart from the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame at 6:15 p.m. and head to the Adelphi Hotel, where Morrissey died on May 1, 1878. At the hotel, historian Charles Kuenzel will detail Morrissey’s political legacy, impact on Saratoga Springs, and his final days. Guests will be treated to hors d’oeuvres and a specialty cocktail at the hotel before advancing to the Saratoga Springs History Museum at the Canfield Casino.

Kentucky Derby Preview Panel and Book and Memorabilia Sale on Saturday, April 27

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will play host to its annual Kentucky Derby Preview Panel program as well as a book and memorabilia sale on Saturday, April 27. Admission to the program and book sale is free. The book and memorabilia sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Museum lobby and the Kentucky Derby program will begin at 12 p.m. in the Hall of Fame. Additionally, the Museum Gift Shop will be offering 15 percent off all new books throughout the day.

National Museum of Racing announces 2024 Saratoga County farm tour series

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is partnering with seven Saratoga County farms for exclusive behind-the-scenes tours. The Museum’s farm tour series kicks off Saturday, April 27, at McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds. There will be a total of eight tours — including a special visit to Old Tavern Farm during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival — with the series concluding in October.

Secretariat’s birthday to be celebrated with children’s event March 30 at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will commemorate the birthday of 1973 Triple Crown winner and Hall of Fame member Secretariat with a variety of children’s activities and a special showing of the Disney film Secretariat on Saturday, March 30.  The celebration will coincide with the final day of the Museum’s exhibition A Tremendous Machine: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Secretariat’s Triple Crown. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is included with the cost of regular Museum admission.

National Museum of Racing announces 2024 Hall of Fame finalists

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Nine racehorses, six trainers, and two jockeys account for the 17 finalists that will comprise the National Museum of Racing’s 2024 Hall of Fame ballot, as chosen by the Museum’s Hall of Fame Nominating Committee. The finalists are racehorses Blind Luck, Game On Dude, Gio Ponti, Gun Runner, Havre de Grace, Justify, Kona Gold, Lady Eli, and Rags to Riches; trainers Christophe Clement, Kiaran P. McLaughlin, H. Graham Motion, Doug F. O’Neill, John W. Sadler, and John A. Shirreffs; and jockeys Jorge F. Chavez and Joel Rosario. Gun Runner, Justify, and Rosario are finalists in their first year of eligibility.

Countdown to the Triple Crown fundraiser set for Feb. 3

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will play host to the second annual “Countdown to the Triple Crown” fundraising event on Saturday, Feb. 3. This winter fundraiser, scheduled exactly three months prior to the 150th Kentucky Derby, will feature dozens of silent auction items and an online auction of unique items and experience packages to benefit the Museum.

National Museum of Racing announces updates to Hall of Fame Historic Review and Steeplechase Review committee processes

Hot Dog! The Harry M. Stevens Concession Experience exhibition opens Jan. 10

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will open a new exhibition, Hot Dog! The Harry M. Stevens Concessions Experience, in the Link Gallery on Jan. 10. The exhibit focuses predominantly on Harry M. Stevens concessions at racetracks in the first half of the 20th century and features historic photographs, drawings, dinnerware, advertising, and a painting. The exhibition was made possible by generous loans from Mary Jane Hunt, horsefeathers!, the Harry M. Stevens Family Foundation, Inc., and Ken Grayson.

Secretariat Curator’s Tour and new Book Club highlight early 2024 programming at the National Museum of Racing

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will play host to a special Secretariat Curator’s Tour in January and debut a new Book Club in February as part of its expanded programing in 2024.
