Before suffering an injury while training at 4, Cicada won the Columbiana, Sheepshead Bay, Vagrancy, and Distaff Handicaps. For the third time she was named Champion, this time as Handicap Mare.

Cicada came back for one race at 5 when it was discovered that she had lost her earlier form. When she retired Cicada was the greatest money-winning filly up to her time.

Cicada produced one stakes winner from her six foals.

Cicada was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1967.
