At 2 Challedon won the Pimlico, Maryland, and New England Futurities. At the peak of his career Challedon won the Preakness, Arlington Classic, Hawthorne Gold Cup and his first Pimlico Special. In the Tranter at Keeneland, he set a world record of 1:54 3/5 for 1 3/16 miles. Challedon was named Champion 3-year-old and Horse of the Year when the season ended.

In 1940 after winning the Hollywood Gold Cup, Whitney, Pimlico Special, Havre de Grace, and Philadelphia Handicaps, Challedon was named Champion Handicapper and Horse of the Year. Challedon sired 13 stakes winners, including Donor, Ancestor, and Tenacious. Challedon was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1977.
