In a career that spanned 1961 to 1967, Native Diver demonstrated his versatility in races ranging from 6 furlongs to 1 1/4 miles. Native Diver was a star on the West Coast where he won Hollywood Gold Cup for three consecutive years.

Native Diver set track records at 6 and at 8 1/2 furlongs and equaled the world record for 7 furlongs. At 6 he won his first Hollywood Gold Cup. He also raced to victory in the Los Angeles, San Carlos, and American Handicaps.

At 7 Native Diver won a second Hollywood Gold Cup, a third Inglewood Handicap, and won the San Pasqual.

In his final and most financially successful season Native Diver repeated his victories in the Hollywood Gold Cup, and the Los Angeles, and San Carlos Handicaps.

Native Diver retired with earnings of $1,026,500, making him the sport's seventh millionaire.

Native Diver was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1978.
