Gamely began her career at three in California. That year she won the Princess Stakes at Hollywood Park and the Test and the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga. At 4 Gamely set a filly's record by carrying 131 pounds to victory in the Vanity. She also won the Santa Margarita and the Beldame, and beat males in the Inglewood Handicap.

In her final season Gamely won the Beldame again, the Wilshire, the Santa Monica, and the Diana Handicap.

Gamely produced two foals before dying of a ruptured stomach at Claiborne Farm. One of her foals, Cellini, won the Dewhurst Stakes in England.

Gamely was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1980.
