Davona Dale's career brought back memories of Calumet Farm's glory days in the 1940's and 50's. Davona Dale won two filly Triple Crowns: the modern New York Filly Triple Crown and the original series won by Calumet fillies Wistful in 1949 and Real Delight in 1952.

In her best season at 3, Davona Dale won eight consecutive victories beginning with the Bonnie Miss Stakes in Florida, the Fair Grounds Debutante in Louisiana, and the Fantasy Stakes in Arkansas Davona Dale swept the New York Filly Triple by winning the Acorn Stakes by 2 1/4 lengths, the Mother Goose by 10, and the Coaching Club American Oaks by 8. Earlier in the season she won the Kentucky Oaks and the Black-Eyed Susan which, along with the CCA Oaks, comprised the original filly Triple Crown.

Davona Dale was awarded the Eclipse Award for 3-year-old fillies in 1979. In her only victory at 4, she defeated arch-rival It's in the Air in the Ballerina Stakes.

Davona Dale was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1985.
