Affectionately was bred by the Bieber-Jacobs Stable of Isador Bieber and Hall of Fame trainer, Hirsch Jacobs. Known as the 'Queen of Queens' by New York race fans, Affectionately was only the second racemare to win more than $500,000.

Affectionately's 2-year-old season included wins in the Spinaway, Sorority and Polly Drummonds. At 3 and 4 she won consecutive Interborough Handicaps. Other victories at 4 included the Vosburgh Stakes and the Correction. In her final season at 5, Affectionately won the Top Flight, Distaff, Vagrancy, Correction, and Liberty Bell, and defeated older males in the Toboggan Handicap.        

In her impressive first season, Affectionately was named Co-champion Filly of 1962, an honor that was repeated in her final season. At 5 she also was named Champion Sprinter.

 Affectionately's first foal was Personality, Horse of the Year in 1970.Affectionately was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1989.
