Preschool Program at the National Museum of Racing
The National Museum of Racing’s Preschool Program is back for the 2011-2012 school year (recommended for children ages 3-5). Please join the Preschool Program at the National Museum of Racing, 191 Union Ave. in Saratoga Springs, on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Each class consists of story time, learning a letter and number, and a craft project. An adult must accompany children. This session we are offering one class free (try it you’ll like it!) Admission is $25 per child for the six Wednesdays. (Museum members receive a 15 percent discount.) Advance reservations are required and children must have proof of immunizations. Please call 584-0400, ext. 118, or email nmredu2@racingmuseum.net.
Reading is Fun!

Bring in a favorite book or story from home to show. We will read a story and talk about it. Create a horse bookmark of your own.
Wednesday, October 5
Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes
Children should bring with them a photograph of themselves no bigger than 3.5” by 5.” We will be talking about horseshoes and people shoes, playing some shoe games and making a horseshoe picture frame.
Horses & Hands
Wednesday, October 12
Do you know how to measure a horse? Come learn how, and we’ll measure you too! We will make our own measuring tapes. Our book will be Measuring Penny.
Autumn
Wednesday, October 19
We’ll talk about how we can tell it is fall by observing changes in our environment. How do horses and other animals get ready for winter? How do the leaves change? We’ll find out. Collect fall stuff outdoors to bring in and make a nature plaque.
Halloween Haunted Horses
Wednesday, October 26
It’s an orange thing, pumpkins, carrots, and squash. Learn about fall vegetables. Our story will be spooky and we will make some fun Halloween decorations.
